Second Generation Brown/Dino Commits to the Program

Christian Cardone wanted to follow in father’s footsteps and be a part of the Dinos football program. In 2017 he will achieve that goal.

The University of Calgary Dinos confirmed that the 17-year-old Cardone has signed a Canadian Interuniversity Sport Letter of Intent to play for the Dinos in 2017.

“It was a pretty big influence that my father was a part of the program here (Calgary), stated the 5’10”, l75 lbs. Cardone who was approached by the Universities of Saskatchewan and UBC, ultimately signing with Calgary before entering into discussions with those schools.

The son for former University of Calgary fullback Remo Cardone, Christian is an outstanding defensive back who was a member of Team Canada U16 team that competed in the International Bowl in Arlington, Texas in January 2016. Like his father, Christian is a graduate of the St. Francis Browns program. Christian was a member of the Browns 2015 and 2016 City and Provincial 4A Championship teams. Cardone also was a starter and league all-star on the 2016 Cowboys Midget Calgary Championship team in 2016.

“Calgary has a really good program and felt it was the best fit for me. I am excited as many of my friends are here,” stated Cardone referring that current St. Francis teammates Joe Dutton, Cole Belway, and Logan Bandy have committed to the Dinos.

“Christian is a hard working young that plays very aggressive. He has very quick feet and is a good tackler. He is as strong on the field as he is the classroom,” states Dinos recruiting coordinator Matt Berry.

Christian is the son of Remo and Jennifer Cardone. Remo played for the Dinos from 1988 to 1992 and was a member of their 1988 National Championship team as well as the 1992 Canada West Conference Championship team.

An excellent student, Christian will enroll in the Haskayne School of Business with hopes of pursuing a major in Accounting.
