David Mueller is
thankful the recruiting process is over. The same holds true for the University of Calgary football Dinos.
“The entire
process was stressful. I am thankful it is over,” stated Mueller following the
signing of the U Sports Letter of Intent to attend the University of Calgary
and play for the 2016 Hardy Cup and Mitchell Bowl Champions.
The talented receiver from Lacombe High School
was pursued by the Universities of Alberta, British
Columbia, and Saskatchewan, in
Canada West and McMaster and Western in Ontario,
in addition to Calgary.
The ultimate decision boiled down to Calgary and
Saskatchewan,
where he made official visits.
“The atmosphere
amongst the players is great. I have heard great things about the program,”
stated the 6’, 205 lbs. Mueller who will not turn 18 until May 2017. “Calgary is an awesome
opportunity for me. I like the coaching staff and how they way they run things
on and off the field,” Mueller stated.
“David is a very
strong physical receiver. He is great at running routes. We have been watching
him for quite some time and develop into the player he currently is,” stated University of Calgary Head Coach Wayne Harris.
Mueller played
for two Alberta teams at the Canada Cup in Montreal and Winnipeg.
He was one of the team captains on the Alberta U18 this past summer. He was MVP
for his High School team that was coached by Jason Petrie. He also was Central
Alberta High School Offensive and Special Teams Player of the Year in his final
year with the Rams.
David played his youth football for the
Prairie Fire that competes in the Calgary Midget League.
An excellent student Mueller anticipates to
take Kinesiology courses.
He is the son of Amy Mueller.
