Running back
Ethan Moroz is the latest addition from the two-time City and Provincial
Champion St. Francis Browns to commit to the 2016 defending Hardy Cup and
Mitchell Bowl Champion University of Calgary Dinos.
The 18-year old Moroz
has been on winning teams his entire football career having played for the
Calgary Midget Cowboys City Championship team that was coached by Tony Spoletini
in the spring of 2016 in addition to the 2015 and 2016 Championship teams at
St. Francis. He also won a Calgary Championship with the junior St. Francis Browns
in 2014 and a City and Provincial Championship with the Calgary Cowboys Gray
that was coached by former University
of Calgary running back
J.P. Izquierdo.
“Ethan is a
patient runner with good explosion. He has good vision, sets up his blocks, and
does not get caught from behind. He also has been on winning programs his
entire career,” states Dinos Head Coach Wayne Harris.
“This (Calgary) is home and I
wanted to be close to my family. The University
of Calgary has a great
track record and I like the family atmosphere here. Everyone is so close,”
states the 5’10” Moroz who intends to take communications courses with the
intent on getting involved in real estate.
Moroz was
approached the Universities of Saskatchewan and Regina in Canada West as well
as Queens but did not make any recruiting visits as he was interested in
staying in Calgary to pursue his football aspirations and post secondary
education.
Ethan joins
current St. Francis teammates Jacob Izquierdo, Cole Belway, Joe Dutton, Logan
Bandy, Christian Cardone, Alex Groshak, Curtis Prime and Matt Ohler who earlier
committed to the Dinos.
Ethan is the son
of Eric and Rolanda Moroz of Calgary.
His father played six-man football in Wynyard,
SK.
