The University of Calgary added
another receiver from the Henry Wise Wood Warriors with the signing of Prince
Kavia to a USports Letter of Intent.
The 17 year old Kavia spent three
years with the Warriors, two with the senior team and one with the junior
varsity team. He was a starter for two seasons on the senior team that was
coached by Cody Ehrmann.
Prince was a member of the
Alberta U18 team that played in the Canada Cup in Winnipeg during the summer of 2016 along with
teammate Matson Tulloch.
In speaking with Offensive
Coordinator Ryan Sheahan about Prince, he stated “He is an explosive playmaker,
that has the ability to change the game with big plays, especially in the
return game.”
Kavia is a product of the
Stampeders organization in the Calgary Minor Football Association playing both
bantam and midget football for them.
“Calgary is the best fit for me. My friends
are going to the University of Calgary and felt I would be comfortable playing
there,” stated the 5’9”, 160 lbs. Kavia who has excellent speed and quickness
who also approached the University
of Alberta and Simon
Fraser.
Prince is the son of Derick and
Gladys Kavia and hopes to enter the Haskayne School of Business this coming
fall.
