Today we look at the receiver
position. Under the tutelage coach Dennis Holowaychuk, the Dinos return four
key players that played extensively in last year’s talented group. Heading the
list is Jake Harty, who has demonstrated big play capability with excellent
speed and good hands. Last year’s Conference Freshman of the Year Brett Blaszko
returns for his sophomore season and has good size and speed. All-Canadian
Chris Dobko is a solid possession receiver and sophomore Eli Bouka is very
quick and when healthy is a difference maker as was shown in his first
Conference game last year. All have an additional year of experience of working
with the trio of quarterbacks last year.
Freshman Rashaun Simonise (Vancouver
College) has excellent size combined with outstanding athleticism. He is part
of an excellent overall recruiting class of 2013 and with experience will be a
solid varsity football player. Another freshman with solid credentials is
Brandon Thera-Plamandon from St. Albert High School.
Michael Klukas (St. Mary’s) and
Kendall Bilan (Lord Beaverbrook) are a pair of red-shirt freshmen from last
year will challenge for reps throughout training camp and during the season.
Kyle Brick (Bishop McNally) has worked hard and will push for playing time.
Unfortunately Matt Lamoureux who
spent a couple of productive seasons with the Calgary Colts of the Prairie
Junior Football Conference was injured in the first practice and will miss
about a month.
Key losses are veteran inside
receiver Richard Snyder and dependable possession receiver Taylor Nill, both of
whom graduated from the program.
