Evan Zadery
always wanted to play the University
of Calgary Dinos. He will
get to achieve that goal later this year.
The Dinos
confirmed the defensive back from Henry
Wise Wood
High School will attend
the U of C when he signed a U Sports Letter of Intent in January 2018.
Evan was a
Calgary High School Athletic Association Division I all-star in his senior
season playing for former Dinos coaches Cody Ehrman and Tony Fasano in 2017.
“I wanted to
stay at home and play for my hometown team supporting the city I grew up in,”
stated Zachary who intends on studying Political Science with the goal to
eventually work at the United Nations.
The 17 year old
Zachary will have plenty of familiar faces on the Dinos. Current recruits
Daniel Stefanyk, Carter Johnson, and Martin Levkovski all played High School
football with him this past year at Wise Wood and they helped influence his
decision to play for the defending Hardy Cup Champions.
“Evan is a good
home grown player from Henry Wise Wood. He has good speed and is a hard working
young man,” stated Head Coach Wayne Harris.
Evan is the son
of Dennis and Lorraine Zadery of Calgary. He was born in Edmonton
but moved to Calgary
a young child. He is a product of the Stampeders youth football organization
where he played pee wee and bantam football, but played midget football for the
Colts as his parents moved.
