The University of Calgary continues to add linemen
prospects to their roster for the 2018 football season. The Dinos confirmed
that Martin Levkovksi of Henry Wise Wood High School in Calgary
has signed a U Sports Letter of Intent.
A 6’1”, 265 lbs.
defensive lineman, Martin is an excellent athlete starting on the Warriors
football and basketball teams. He has been a starter for the past two seasons
on the football team that is coached by former University of Calgary football
player Cody Ehrmann and former Dinos Head Coach Tony Fasano.
Martin is a
product of the Calgary Bulldogs minor program having played bantam, pee wee,
and midget football in their organization. He was a Calgary Midget all-star in
2017 and has been a member of both the Alberta U16 and U18 teams. One of his
coaches in youth football was former Dinos linebacker Brian McCorquodale.
“After talking
to the coaches at Calgary
I felt welcome. I know many of the current players as well as coaches. In
speaking with players that are here they like it and feel that Calgary is the
right fit for me,” stated the 17-year-old Levkovski who was born in Estonia but
has lived in Canada since he was two.
An excellent
student, Martin hopes to study Kinesiology.
He spoke with Ottawa, Concordia, and Toronto but made no official visits as well
as speaking the UBC at the Canada Cup.
“Martin is an
athletic big man. He is very versatile. Having seen him play he can be used on
either offensive or defensive line or at fullback. He also plays a physical
game,” stated Recruiting and Defensive Coordinator Matt Berry.
Martin is the
son of Juri and Olga Levkovski.
